Before you access the SD129 OverDrive eBook site and download eBook content, you will need to have an email address as well as a computer, smartphone or iPad/android tablet that can download free apps.

 All of the necessary software is free; however, what software you need depends upon which formats you will use to access the eBooks.

 To download titles:

Go to the sd129 OverDrive site at

Student login:

Library Card Number: enter your Student ID
PIN: enter your entire Last Name as it appears on your Student ID card
       (Capitalize only the first letter of your last name)
District 129 staff login:
Library Card Number: first part of your district email address (before "")
PIN: enter your birth month and birth day (MMDD) 


Software/device requirements: 

· To read EPUB format books, you will need to download and install the free Adobe Digital Editions software at Please note that when you install the software you will need to create an Adobe ID and provide an email address.  This site offers free software to read EPUB titles on a laptop/desktop, smartphone, tablet or eReader, such as a Nook.

· To read Kindle format books, you will need to have a Kindle account on Amazon and provide an email address. If you are using a computer, you can get a Kindle Reading App from From this site you can get software to read Kindle titles in a browser, on a laptop/desktop, on a smartphone or on a tablet.

· Some eBook titles are in OverDrive Read format.  these can be read using your browser on a laptop or desktop computer (and on some tablets/phones), and do not require any additional software.
· To listen to eAudiobooks or to read titles on a smartphone/mobile device, go to the OverDrive Media Console site at and download the app for your device.
