CLASS OF 2024: Read below for important dates and details for the remainder of the school year!

Below you will find the Senior Newsletter, a one-stop-shop for information regarding the end of the school year - including important dates/times, requirements, and reminder for the Class of 2024.

Spring Senior Meeting: On Tuesday, April 9, the Class of 2024 will meet in the Auditorium during 3rd period (9:28-10:18am) to discuss and review important details for the remainder of the school year. All graduating Seniors should be in attendance. NOTE: Early graduates may enter through Door 16A, with ID.

Cap and Gown Distribution: Cap and Gown sets will be distributed during lunch hours (10:23am-2:02pm) on Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25 in the Lower Cafeteria. Still need to pay for your set? Please call Herff Jones at 815-756-4743NOTE: Early Class of 2024 graduates must enter through Door #1 to retrieve a visitor's pass.

Senior Prom: Senior Prom will take place on Saturday, May 4, at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora from 6-10pm. A completed Guest Pass for Underclassmen & Non-WAHS students must be turned in to the Student Activities Office by Friday, April 26. A photo ID is required for all attendees. Tickets are $80 and can be purchased here starting April 8. Seniors with fees will not be able to attend prom. Please contact Lori Boyd at lboyd@sd129.org or 630/301-5524

Grad Nite at Six Flags: SOLD OUT

Grad Night at Six Flags - WAHS will be participating in this private event for high school seniors on Saturday, May 11. The cost is $100 and includes admission, transportation, picnic food, and entertainment. This event is open to any WAHS senior - NO OUTSIDE GUESTS ALLOWED. This is a SENIOR ONLY event. Students will depart WAHS at 9 pm and return around 4 am. Six Flags facilities will be open from 10 pm to 3 am for unlimited rides & entertainment. Tickets can be purchased starting April 10.

Students MUST ride the bus to this event! This event is NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and only available to High School students through a school-sponsored event. Students are NOT ALLOWED to drive their car to Six Flags!

Senior Celebration Day will take place on Friday, May 17. The day will be FILLED with various mandatory and optional events. Please see below.

The Senior Recognition Assembly and Commencement Practice will take place on Friday, May 17, and will start promptly at 8:30 am in the Veterans & Red Field House. Graduates should enter through Door 14B starting at 8 am. All seniors participating in the Commencement Ceremony, including early graduates, are required to attend the Commencement Practice. **CAP & GOWNS ARE REQUIRED**

At the conclusion of the Commencement Practice/Assembly, seniors will retrieve their Commencement Ceremony tickets in the Veteran's Fieldhouse. Every graduate will receive 10 tickets for family and friends - no more, no less. Once tickets are retrieved, all graduates are invited to the Auditorium where Hypnotist Randy Andrews will put on a memorable show. Immediately after the show, seniors are invited outside Doors 15/16 for a Senior BBQ, where a variety of picnic food will be served. Both the Show and BBQ are optional.

After the BBQ, seniors may participate in our optional Parade of Graduates event. We invite all graduating seniors to head back to their SD129 Elementary School and/or Middle School for the Parade of Graduates. Students who plan to participate in the event, are asked to scan QR code, fill out the form, so the elementary/middle school offices are aware of the graduates who will be attending!

  • Seniors should arrive (1:30-1:45 pm) at ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS in their Cap & Gown. The parade will begin at 1:45 pm
    • If graduates want to stay for pictures or visit former teachers, that can happen after elementary dismissal at 2:20PM.
    • No parents will be allowed to enter the elementary buildings for the Parade of Graduates.
  • Seniors should arrive (3:10-3:20pm) at MIDDLE SCHOOLS in their Cap & Gown. The parade will begin at 3:20 pm

Last but not least, the Senior Farewell Fireworks show will take place on Friday, May 17 in the Ormond Stadium with gates opening at 8:15pm. This event is open to seniors, friends, and family members. Enjoy one last moment to recap your four-year journey at West High! Fireworks will shoot off at approx. 8:45pm.

Complimentary Transportation to Commencement Ceremony: Complimentary Transportation from WAHS to NIU will be provided to assist students and their families in attending the Commencement Ceremony. The bus will leave promptly from WAHS Door #1 at 8 am, arriving at NIU between 8:45/9 am. The bus will leave the Convocation Center 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Ceremony. The anticipated time of arrival back to Aurora is between 1/1:30 pm. To reserve space on the bus for this event, please fill out the Google Form linked below or scan the QR Code. The deadline to sign up is Friday, May 10 at 3:30 pm. As a reminder, only family members/friends with tickets can attend the Ceremony.

Graduate Yard Sign Sales: Graduate Yard Signs are available for purchase in the Student Activities Office. Each yard sign is $10. Cash, check, and card are all accepted methods of payment.

WA Clear Bag Sales: To enter Northern Illinois University's Convocation Center for the Commencement Ceremony, clear bags are required. The bag policy is directly below. To help with this safety measure, the Student Activities Office is selling clear WA Totes for $10 each. Cash, check, and card are all accepted methods of payment.
