The Advanced Placement Exam

The Advanced Placement (AP) program is a cooperative educational partnership between secondary schools and colleges and universities. By taking an AP course and scoring successfully on the related AP Exam, you can save on college expenses; most colleges and universities nationwide offer college credit, advanced placement, or both, for qualifying AP Exam scores. These credits can allow students to save college tuition, study abroad, or secure a second major.  Additionally, students who take AP courses and exams are much more likely to complete a college degree on time (College Board, 2008).

While we encourage all students to take the corresponding AP exam, we understand that the cost can be prohibitive to many students and families. The exam and administration fee is $100 per test. In order to provide equity of opportunity,  the A+ Foundation and West Aurora High School is working to support one exam for every student enrolled in the AP program, only charging $20 for the first exam to cover administration fees.
